Dr. Ben LeVan is an associate professor of management and leadership at Charleston Southern. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in geology from the College of Wooster, a Master of Science in human resource development from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a doctorate in human resource development from the University of Texas. Dr. LeVan is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
Before coming to Charleston Southern, Ben was an accomplished executive with over fifteen years of leadership development and Human Resource experience servicing Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized organizations and non-profits. He has directed HR functions for over eight thousand employees generating revenues in excess of two billion dollars. During his career, Ben has spoken to a broad range of U.S. and international audiences, including business professionals, colleges, universities, insurance groups, and non-profits, and has been featured on local and national radio and television programs.
Ben is also the President & CEO of PROPEL, an HR services firm specializing in leadership development, employee engagement, strategy development & execution, employee relations issues and individual coaching. In 2013, Ben was a contributor for Howard Dayton’s book, Business God’s Way.
Ben’s volunteer service has included youth ministries, small group ministries, Co-chair for MDA’s Annual Walk-A-Thon and Big Brother volunteer.
Ben and his wife Stephanie have been married since 1999 and have two children, Julia and Dawson.
